NVIDIA Quadro seeria[1][2] AGP, PCI, ja PCI Express videokaardid on toodetud NVIDIA poolt. Nende videokaartide disainerite eesmärk oli kiirendada CAD (Computer-Aided Design) ja DCC (Digital Content Creation) protsesse, seetõttu on nad tavaliselt kasutuses tööjaamades. (Võrdluseks: NVIDIA GeForce seeria videokaartide peamiseks kasutusalaks on arvutimängud).[3][4] Üheks tuntuimaks konkureerivaks tooteks on FireGL seeria videokaardid, mis on toodetud ettevõtte ATI Technologies poolt.
Ajalugu
[muuda | muuda lähteteksti]Quadro seeria graafikakaartide ilmumise taga oli NVIDIA soov turgu segmenteerida, uus seeria oli mõeldud eelkõige tööjaamades kasutamiseks. Quadro seeria turule toomisega sai NVIDIA küsida suuremat hinda kui samaväärsete lauaarvutitele mõeldud kaartide puhul. Et oma pakkumisi siiski eristatavaks teha, kasutati Quadro seeria puhul teistsuguseid draivereid ja püsivara, mis lukustasid lahti mitmed kaardi poolt pakutavad lisavõimalused. Samuti pakuti Quadro omanikele paremat kasutajatuge. Antud plaan hoolitses selle eest, et kõrgklassi kliendid ei ostaks odavama klassi videokaarte.

Quadro Plex
[muuda | muuda lähteteksti]Quadro Plex koosneb mitmest välisest serverist, mis on mõeldud videote renderdamiseks, Quadro Plex koosneb mitmest Quadro FX videokaardist. Renderdamise alustamiseks ühendub klientarvuti PCI Express ×8 või ×16 liidest kasutades Quadro Plex süsteemi.[5]
Videokaardid

[muuda | muuda lähteteksti]Paljud Quadro seeria videokaardid kasutavad sama tuuma, mis arvutimängude jaoks mõeldud GeForce kaardid. Neid lauaarvutitele mõeldud videokaarte, mis on identsed Quadro kaartidega, saab tarkvara abil sellisel moel modifitseerida, et süsteemi on võimalik paigaldada samaväärse Quadro kaardi draiverid.[6] See võimaldab mõningate rakenduste puhul tõsta videokaardi jõudlust, kuid see ei küündi siiski samale tasemel vastava Quadro kaardiga.
