English: Invasive species in Lahemaa National Park. This picture was taken with a drone for a project that will start in January 2022. I was pretty happy because it was my first time piloting the drone for the project that was just accepted. The most important thing to look at the photo is the species Rosa rugosa, an alien species that was brought to Estonia during the soviet times to fix the dunes. Lahemaa National Park, the place where the photo was taken, is a typical place where this species was introduced. Besides being able to find this plant everywhere in Estonia now, our interest is mapping this plant on the coast and analyze its impact on the native dune plants, which in some areas, Rosa rugosa seems to take the space of the native species. And why is this important? Well, the shrubs of the alien plant are a great threat in dry forest and coastal ecosystems reducing species richness, changing the composition of habitat types and suppressing natural vegetation of high conservation value, so it is important to know the extension of Rosa rugosa to implement containment and eradication efforts in areas of conservation.
